In this latest version of new rubber plates, both - the support plate and the rubber surface have been greatly upgraded.
The new TYPE 4 rubber on an EN AW-5754 aluminum plate
The new surface of TYPE 4 rubber features now thousands of micro lamellae (see macro image), which double the surface area and catch on surface irregularities of the webbing. This is improving grip on the webbing enormously, similar to a snow tire on icey roads.
The second improvement and upgrade of this version is in the support plate, which is now made from a new aluminum alloy EN AW-5754 (AlMg3) 3.3535. This alloy is way more corrosion resistant than the 7075 aluminum alloy used for TYPE 3 plates. With this new alloy and stainless steel screws we gain specifically longlasting durability even in the most hostile environments such as exposure to salty water and air.
Webbing from PES polyester, PA polyamide, UHMWPE dyneema
If you're using a high-tech webbing made from Dyneema or a Dyneema hybrid, this is the type of soleplate you want. You will greatly benefit from significantly better grip on PA, PES, HMPE and UHMWPE textile, compared to any other rubber compound on the planet.
The linegrip rubber should be replaced at least every 12 months to maintain its full sealing properties. Over time, the sun, atmosphere and external agents lead to drying out process of the rubber, which then loses grip on your webbing.
